Flying off to Hawaii

Checking out Waikiki and meeting up with the locals – Travel log no. 36

Before I was actually going to bed last night I still had to get rid off a whole Ikea bag of stuff. So I left some of my things open in the kitchen area. It was astonishing half an hour later most of the things were already gone.

Ready to get on my flight I fell asleep and got up at 4:30 am in the morning. At 5 am I took the shuttle to the airport and jumped on my flight to O’ahu.

San Francisco, California
Last sight of San Francisco when flying out to Hawaii.

After 5 hours of flight I made it to O’ahu, the island with the international airport. The weather was just beautiful which wasn’t really helpful while carrying my stuff and wearing my leather jacket. I took the bus downtown and checked into the hostel.

I took a bath in the ocean and checked out Waikiki beach. Since I haven’t had any breakfast I tried some of the local specialties. I had Musubis, rice balls with spam and a coconut milk drink.

Afterwards I met up with Ron a local and his friends and we talked about the island and things to do.

By now I really felt tired due to the jet lag and lack of sleep.

I watched the sunset. I even saw the green flash a phenomenon of green light close to when the sun is completely hidden behind the ocean.  Afterwards I went back to the hostel to meet up with some other people. Tomorrow I will need to figure out the plan for my two weeks on Hawaii. Can’t wait to finally go to bed and see more of the beautiful island tomorrow.
