Hiking through the Wire and admiring the Antelope Canyon

First wild camping experience and off trail hiking – Travel log no. 25

We drove off to the lower Antelope Canyon first thing in the morning. Even though the canyon was super crowded it was still astonishing. I took so many picture I would like to show here but this is one of my favorites.

Afterwards we drove off to the Wire to search for the Wave. Unfortunately there is no public trail to it and you need a permit to go there. We still had a nice hike through a canyon.

It was already getting late and we were still planning on making it to the Zion Park. So we drove off in the direction of Zion. By the time we got to Kanab the sun was already setting. So we decided to camp there in a public forest.

In the middle of the forest close to our camp was a huge boulder we climbed on to watch the sun set.

Since there were a couple of old fireplaces we had a bonfire of our own and told us stories of life. It was a really good time.

During the night a truck was driving by our camp which was a little bit scary, but otherwise nobody made an effort to send us away.

We slept in pretty late and drove of to finally discover the beauty of Zion National Park.
