Experiencing Australians Wildlife
About Kangaroos and tropical birds – Travel log no. 55
I woke up several times in the night. In the morning my toes felt like they were frozen. Probably I just need to get used sleeping outside in my hammock again.
We had cereals for breakfast and managed to warm up some water over the fire for coffee.
The first stop for today was the Erskine falls. In the middle of the eucalyptus jungle the water falls down from about 30 m into the creek. It remembered me a little bit of the scenic falls on Maui.
After that I was able to get into close contact with another native Australian animal.
Like in the Disney movies parrots just land on your hand as soon as you raise it.
Another highlight of that day was the kangaroo. I saw my first wild Kangaroos and we also had Kangaroo tail for dinner. It tastes like beef but is a little bit tougher. Overall funny to look at and tasty animals.
The campground was booked out so we had to find a decent spot in the wild.
The reception and public hotspots get scarce, but at least the night sky is a good entertainment. I saw some beautiful shooting stars and the scene is completely different from the Northern Hemisphere without light pollution.
