My stay in Darwin
About beautiful sunsets and deadly animals – Travel log no. 75
After traveling for 11 days through the outback we finally made it to Darwin. I moved into the Dingo Moon Lodge together with Matteo. John kept on camping around the city.
The Dingo Moon Lodge was actually one of the cooler if not my favorite hostel I stayed at so far. It is smaller which makes it easy to engage with people and offers a good breakfast. I made many friends here.
Darwin itself is a nice but small city. It is a good place for people who like to go party. All the night life seems to be focused on Mitchell St. After living there for more than 1 week it can get boring quickly though.
One of my favorite places in Darwin is the Mindl Beach. It offers a night market two days in a week and the sunsets there are just amazing.
Unfortunately it’s as dangerous as it is beautiful since Australians biggest predator the crocodile may just be lurking below the surface of the ocean. So swimming is only save in the Lagoon which made the humidity and warm weather (35 celsius) sometimes unbearable.
I finally opened up an Australian bank account and made my first money here by working as a photographer. In addition to that I tried some new things like Yoga to cover the time waiting for my friend Hendrik.
Saturday night around 4 am I finally picked up my friend Hendrik from the airport. We should just stay in Darwin for another night before we started a new adventure to the East Coast of Australia.
