Historic Savannah and Sunshine State Florida

Enjoying beautiful weather while riding through coastal landscape  – Travel log no. 10

I got up late this morning, but it was a beautiful day to start with. Probably the best weather on my whole trip so far and I hope it will stay this way. We started the day with the walk through the historic downtown of Savannah. At first we went to see the Forsyth Park at daylight and it definitely is a beautiful sight. All the Azalea’s shine even brighter in the sun and the air is filled with the fragrance of spring.

My host, also a professional city guide explained me the architecture of the city. The city is designed in squares which are always centered by a park, surrounded with public buildings on the verticals and housing on the horizontal sides. It was a great time to walk from square to square and I really recommend doing it if you get down there.

Already short on time again we grabbed a quick lunch. You might wonder if I prefer diversity in my diet? You are wrong, of course we got BBQ. Although there is a lot of diversity in the BBQ itself from State to State. I really recommend the place Streamliner, the food was great and the place looks like out of a movie. The restaurant is made of a former train wagon or at least looks like it.

BBQ Georiga
BBQ the Georgian way, BBQ sauce is the main sauce compared to mustard up North. Beef is finally served as brisket compared to pulled beef in NC. I present to you the Beef & Pork combo platter.

Finally on the road to Orlando again I came over Wormsloe Plantation. You see their casual driveway as a title picture of this post.

Halfway to Orlando I stopped by Amelia island for the sunset. It was a good feeling to finally see the ocean again. I can definitely claim that I made it to the East Coast now.

In Orlando I met my host at 10pm at a bar. Can’t wait to see Orlando during the day and of course driving down to Miami today. Spring break here we come!
