Exploring Houston, it’s China town and the Rodeo Championship
A day of Vietnamese and Texas culture – Travel log no. 18
After a long night of sleep I got up and brought my car to the windshield body shop. My host picked me up and we went to Bellaire the China town. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t really good. It has been raining the whole day. Since he is Vietnamese he showed me his favorite pho place. The pho was really good and finally I know how to eat a proper pho.
Afterwards we went to the Asian market. There we bought all kinds of stuff. The place was great, I felt like buying and trying out everything. They had all kind of special dishes and food I have never seen before.
After spending way to much money on exotic delicacies we picked up the car. Because the car needs to sit for 24 hours before the glue is fixed I am staying one night longer. Unfortunately this means I won’t be able to check out Austin.
At night we went to check out the Rodeo Championship. The title picture shows the location which is also the location for the yearly super bowl event. Finally I saw some real Americans.
Unfortunately the Rodeo bull riding show was already over for today, but it was still good to check out all the stuff and kettle. We also had funnel cake a traditional sweet bakery.
Back home we had some dumplings and I was able to work out again and do laundry. I am excited for my trip to Terlingua and the big bend tomorrow. It’s going to be a long ride though and I need to make sure I get gas in the right stations to not get stranded in the desert. Looking forward to report the progress of building the wall down there. Stay tuned!
