Flying into Maui and exploring Lahaina

About a city around a forest which ended up being single tree. – Travel log no. 41

I got up early to leave the hostel around 8 am to fly to the neighbor island Maui. Flying out of O’ahu I took the picture of Waikiki you can see as a title. It was probably the shortest flight I ever took. I arrived after about 23 min of flight. But I had a beautiful view on all the islands I passed.

On the flight in Maui didn’t impressed me much. Less population and plants were visible from the plane. This impression should be changed though during the day.

On Maui I checked into the North Shore hostel and became friend with Olli a guy from Britain. Together we drove off to explore the neighbor town Lahaina.

We checked out their park which consists out of a single tree. The roots from the Banyan Trees actually grow from their branches so that they form additional subtrees which are connected to the main tree.

We had some good seafood afterwards, went for a swim and watched the sunset.

Afterwards we drove back to the hostel had dinner and made some more friends. I felt asleep being super tired from my adventures of the previous days, but exited to see more of the new island.
